Definition and terminology

Literally incorporating Jia, Najia in Six Lines practice also installs branches on lines. Eight pure hexagrams anchor palace groups whose phases provide relationship references. This labels a cast hexagram rather than calculating a person’s Four Pillars. Shared stems and branches do not make its inputs or reference point identical to BaZi.

Structure and rules

A common Qian assignment uses Jia for the lower trigram and Ren for the upper, with bottom-up branches Zi, Yin, Chen, Wu, Shen and Xu. Other trigrams have tables. Compare each branch phase with the palace phase to install relationships, then subject/counterpart. Preserve line polarity, branch, palace affiliation and movement separately.

Worked reading

For pure Qian in the metal palace, the initial Zi water is produced by metal and receives Children; second Yin wood is controlled by metal and receives Wealth; third Chen earth produces metal and receives Parents. These labels derive from relationships, not literal translation of line statements, and the exercise needs no real prediction.

Context and limits

Najia is often linked with Han Changes traditions and Jing Fang, but one ancestral name does not explain every later table. Zengshan Buyi documents mature later practice; modern transcriber additions need separation. Consistent labeling supports teaching and software checks, while Wealth or Office labels do not establish measurement of actual money or employment.
